Missionary Athletes International is a non-profit Christian mission with a focus on serving the Lord throught the sport of soccer. MAI has various Full-Time and Part-Time positions available for those who have a heart for sports ministry. MAI Full-Time staff must raise their own support as a faith based supported missionary. MAI often offers both paid and non-paid part-time positions and unpaid internship opportunities which can often be used for college credit.
What is a Missionary?
“Missionary” comes from Latin missionem (nominative missio) "act of sending, …". It has been used to describe those who have followed Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations”. As our name implies, we believe that we are called to impact the world of sport with the message of Jesus Christ on a global basis. The concept of being a missionary is not just in being sent but in the manner of being sent. Throughout its history, MAI has relied in faith on God’s provision for its staffing needs. Prospective staff members must be able to evidence God’s calling on their lives to be involved in sports ministry through MAI. One pivotal aspect of demonstrating this calling is to go through the process of raising financial support for the ministry. MAI is a faith- support mission and candidates must be willing to raise sufficient support to cover the costs of their salary, health insurance, personal expenses and administrative overhead. The process of raising support can be rigorous and time-consuming, but we believe that the benefits of seeing God’s faithfulness of providing for one’s needs through a group of committed prayer and financial supporters cannot be experienced in other methods.
