1. WHAT IS MAI? Missionary Athletes International is a
non-profit,inter-denominational mission agency, committed to communicating
the revelation of Jesus Christ to all cultures through the environment of
soccer.

2. WHEN WAS IT FOUNDED? MAI was founded in December of
1983 in La Habra, California.

3. WHAT NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS DOES MAI
BELONG TO? MAI is a charter member of the International Sports
Coalition, a trade association of sports ministries from around the
world. MAI is also a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial
Accountability. The ECFA is an association of evangelical non-profit
organizations requiring the highest standards of financial
accountability.

4. DOES MAI HAVE PROGRAMS FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH? MAI has
soccer programs for both the male and female enthusiast.
Opportunities include soccer camps (children ages 5 - high school, and
coaches), international tours (high school and above) and full or
part-time staff positions.

5. WHY DOES MAI USE SOCCER? Soccer is the world's most
popular sport. International competition is a regular occurrence between
teams from different countries. The goals of these teams are: first,
to assist missionaries and church leaders in evangelism, discipleship and
church planting, and second, to give team members first-hand exposure to
world missions.

6. HOW IS THE GOSPEL SHARED AT GAMES? Depending on the
situation, the team will give a public witness either at half-time or
after the game, and hand out literature in the language of the opponent to
both the players and the spectators. Local Christians team up with the
players and help initiate conversations which lead to an explanation of
the salvation message.

7. WHO PAYS FOR THE PLAYERS TO TRAVEL? Players raise
their own finances through friends, parents, relatives, churches, civic
organizations, part-time jobs, and often personal savings. MAI provides
materials and accounting infrastructure to help the players raise
funds.

8. WHAT OTHER TYPES OF MINISTRIES ARE A PART OF MAI'S
STRATEGIES? At each MAI location, soccer camps for children are run
in the summer. Each office also sponsors local soccer teams that play in
leagues and meet for Bible study. The Charlotte office has a USL Second
Division
team and a W-League Women's team the Los Angeles office has a PDL teams
and the Chicago Eagles conducts a Soccer Academy for college players.

9. WHERE ARE THE MAI OFFICES LOCATED? MAI's
administrative headquarters is located in Charlotte, NC. MAI
has offices in the Los Angeles area; Charlotte, North Carolina; Chicago

10. ARE FULL-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE? Yes, MAI has
part-time and full-time positions available at each location. Internships
are also available.
