Missionary Athletes International |
In 1983 Missionary Athletes International was founded by
Tim Conrad as a personal ministry to high school soccer players. It
has since grown into a mission agency with a worldwide
scope.
MAI began in an upstairs rented Sunday School room in
La Habra, California. It now has three ministry offices in the USA
and its Headquarters are located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. MAI
has over 30 family units as full-time staff with missionaries in the
USA, Czech Republic, and Ukraine.
MAI also started
the Ambassadors in Sports ministry in England which has now been
turned over to the nationals to lead.
In its early days MAI
held camps and organized local amateur teams. At the present time
MAI sponsors camps across the USA with over 3000 youth from age 5 to
17 attending camps each year. MAI has both a USL W-League and a USL
Second Division pro team in Charlotte,
and a PDL team in Los Angeles. The Chicago office conducts a
Soccer Academy for college players.
MAI, through the
environment of soccer, is committed to communicating the revelation
of Jesus Christ to all cultures in partnership with local
churches.
