“Missionary Athletes International (MAI) has its headquarters in Charlotte, NC since 2003 with a branch office in La Mirada, CA where its focus is on donor relations and member care among other responsibilities. MAI has three ministry offices in the USA. Charlotte, NC; Chicago, Illinois; and Los Angeles, California. 

MAI has ministered in over 30 countries through the platform of soccer since its foundation in 1983. We presently have full time staff in the Czech Republic and the Ukraine. Short-term missionaries have been to Brazil, Czech Republic, Ethiopia, India, Mexico among other countries. 

One of the means of ministry is having teams. In Charlotte there is a men’s Second Division Professional team of the United Soccer League (USL) and a top level women’s team that plays in the W League. Los Angeles has a team that plays at the Player Development League (PDL)  which is part of the USL. Chicago each summer runs a Summer Soccer Academy with both a men’s and women’s team participating. One of their training opportunities is to go on a two week tour overseas.”
