Missionary Athletes International is excited to announce strategic ministry growth through the opening of a brand-new office. The Phoenix Eagles are officially the fifth office and will focus on serving the Phoenix, AZ area.
The Phoenix Eagles join existing MAI ministry offices in Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA and High Point, NC. We are excited also, to announce that the office will be led by Cristian Gomez.
Cristian is originally from Colombia and learned a lot from his father and others who coached within COSDECOL, a partner ministry of MAI. He came to the US for high school and then studied at Grand Canyon University where he developed and led soccer ministry. After graduation, he has continued to lead this ministry along with a significant number of volunteer students from the university who are fully bought into the idea of ministering through the environment of soccer.
“I’ve been directly blessed and inspired by the work MAI has done around the world since I was a little kid. So, it is surreal for me to now be in a position to help expand that work so, many more can be exposed to the gospel on a soccer field” Said Cristian…adding ”I’m convinced the Eagles will appreciate the warm temperatures here in Phoenix!”
MAI CEO, Dave Urban said “I am so thankful for the opportunity to get to know Cristian and witness his heart for the Lord. Cristian is compassionate and truly is a servant leader. We are excited to welcome him and his volunteers to MAI as we seek to glorify God and see lives transformed by sharing the message of Jesus through the global game of soccer.”
Through Cristian’s leadership, the volunteers already working and the generosity of donors and partners alike, we are certain that lives will in fact be transformed throughout the Phoenix area.
